WHAT IS HIIT TRAINING?

HIIT Stands for HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING and is a broad term for workouts that involve short periods of intense exercise alternated with recovery periods.

One of the biggest advantages of HIIT is that you can get maximal training benefits in minimal time.

Typically, a HIIT workout will range from 30-45 minutes in duration. Despite the shorter duration the workout can be, it can produce results & offer health benefits twice as much as moderate-intensity exercise.

The actual activity being performed varies but can include sprinting, biking, jumping or other body weight exercises.

HIIT TRAINING SESSIONS AT SANDOWN SWEAT

Our HIIT sessions are generally 30-45 minutes, depending on your trainer. Our sessions range from 2-8 people per group. Our sessions always start with a warm-up. The idea is to prime your body as quickly as possible for the workout to come, and an intense warm-up can do wonders for the brain to.
Our HIIT sessions are designed to work the entire body in short, intense blasts, building rest into the workout to improve recovery time and allow the body to more easily access its fuel for the next round. It keeps the body adapting. In order to work the body in full, our HIIT sessions rely on moves that recruit multiple muscle groups, often incorporating plyometrics and isometrics.
Think jumping switch lunges, plyometric push-ups, high knees, running and everyone’s favourite, the burpee. Depending on the workout, you may also use equipment in our HIIT sessions, alternating between kettlebells, battle ropes, free weights and boxes or steps. Part of the reason our HIIT sessions are effective, is its built-in variety! The structure of our HIIT sessions are as varied as the moves. In general, expect a period of work followed by a period of rest, repeated across multiple sets with different moves for the duration of your workout.

HOW DO I KNOW HIIT TRAINING IS FOR ME?

HIIT is extremely effective, whether you are trying to lose fat or are already fit and want to tone your muscles.

HIIT is an awesome way to quickly and efficiently detox your blood (and provide it with a brand-new batch of oxygen), in addition to your muscle cells, which will be able to regenerate and rebuild more effectively with a regular HIIT routine.
